For the first time, Bridge School will be working with a yearlong theme focused on Asia. The Winter Week guest will be Jonathan Miller-Lane who runs an Aikido dojo and teaches in the education department at Middlebury College. He’ll be coming to do Aikido and a variety of other experiences related to the arts. A gym-sized National Geographic map of Asia will be up for two weeks this winter. Several artists, speakers and guests will expand on the theme during the year with presentations on Japan, India, Arab language, China, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Currently, the students are playing a game where they need to find all 49 Asian country names that have been placed all over the building. One of our first Asian experiences was with Bridge School parent Anjanette Sidaway who introduced Ikebana, a Japanese form of Mindful Floral arrangement.
